Emergency Department
BSMC Emergency Room is located just three blocks from Highway 87. The ER is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner on-call to handle any injury, accident, or illness requiring attention. If your condition requires a higher level of care, we assist in arranging transport via our Volunteer Ambulance, or with a flight team, either helicopter or fixed wing, to a surrounding hospital.
Our qualified nursing staff is BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Life Support), and TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certified. Lab and X-ray are also available. Our laboratory is able to perform emergency lab work in-house, with a wait time of less than one hour before results are available. X-rays can be taken here with any one of our Limited Xray Tech staff members and then sent to a radiologist for an official read.

Inpatient
If you need an overnight stay in the hospital we can do that too! When your illness requires closer observation or hands-on nursing care, the nurses and providers at Big Sandy Medical Center have got you covered. And if it takes longer than three days to recover, you're welcome to transition to a Swingbed stay to receive the continued care you need.
